Poland and Switzerland strengthen defense cooperation through joint talks
Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz and Martin Pfister held high-level talks in Warsaw aimed at enhancing defense cooperation between Poland and Switzerland.
The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in military training and strengthening ties within the defense industry. Both sides emphasized the importance of adapting to modern security challenges by investing in emerging technologies.
Key areas addressed during the meeting included cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and drone systems, reflecting the growing role of advanced technologies in national defense strategies.
Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted existing cooperation between the two countries, noting that Polish troops already participate in training programs in Switzerland. These include exercises involving Leopard tanks as well as specialized training for elite units.
He also pointed to Switzerland’s civil defense model as a potential example, describing it as a system where citizens receive regular training as part of a broader national defense approach.
For his part, Pfister expressed Switzerland’s interest in learning from Poland’s experience in countering hybrid threats, while offering Swiss expertise in defense innovation and research.
Beyond bilateral cooperation, the officials exchanged views on broader international security issues, including support for Ukraine and ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
The meeting reflects a shared commitment to deepening strategic ties and enhancing preparedness in an increasingly complex global security environment.
