Morocco takes part in global artificial intelligence summit in New Delhi
Morocco is participating in the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit, which opened Thursday in New Delhi under the patronage of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, bringing together political leaders and technology executives to discuss the future of AI and its governance.
The Moroccan delegation is led by Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform. She is joined by Morocco’s ambassador to India, Mohamed Maliki, underscoring the diplomatic importance Rabat attaches to the event.
The Kingdom’s presence aligns with its broader policy of expanding international partnerships in digital transformation, in keeping with the strategic vision of King Mohammed VI to deepen South-South cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise in innovation and advanced technologies to support inclusive, sustainable growth.
Held under the theme “Well-being for all, Happiness for all,” the summit is designed as a global forum to examine the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence and establish principles for its responsible management. Indian authorities have said the AI Impact Summit aims to move beyond discussion toward practical initiatives, while ensuring that the priorities of countries in the Global South are reflected in global AI frameworks.
More than 100 government delegations are attending, including 20 heads of state and government and 60 ministers and deputy ministers. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres is also present, alongside roughly 500 leading figures from the AI sector, academia and research institutions.
In his keynote speech, Narendra Modi described artificial intelligence as a defining technological shift and called for broader access to its tools and benefits so that it can serve as a catalyst for inclusion and economic empowerment.
French President Emmanuel Macron said AI could accelerate innovation across key sectors such as healthcare, energy, transport, agriculture and public administration. He also emphasized the need to safeguard children from emerging forms of digital abuse linked to AI technologies.
Addressing the gathering, António Guterres stressed the importance of strengthening national capacities in data management and digital skills to prevent widening gaps between countries in the AI era. He called for inclusive ecosystems that enable all nations to participate in technological progress.
The summit also features senior executives from major technology firms, including Sam Altman of OpenAI, Sundar Pichai of Alphabet and Dario Amodei of Anthropic, highlighting the close interaction between governments and industry in shaping AI policy.
During the event, Seghrouchni took part in discussions on global AI trends and met with international experts to explore avenues for deeper cooperation in digital innovation and technology development.
