Morocco launches GITEX Digi Health to boost digital health innovation
On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the Moroccan Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mr. Amine Tehraoui, inaugurated the “GITEX Digi Health” exhibition in Marrakech. This event, focused on digital health technologies, is part of the third edition of “GITEX Africa,” held from April 14 to 16 under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The exhibition aligns with the Royal Directives for reforming the healthcare system and the implementation of framework law No. 06.22. It particularly emphasizes digital transformation in health services and strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors. The initiative reaffirms the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging digital technologies to enhance healthcare quality and make the system more accessible and transparent.
During the event, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, and "Kaoun International." The agreement outlines collaboration on organizing "GITEX Future Health Africa / Morocco" and the "GITEX Digi Health" exhibition scheduled for April 21–23, 2026, in Casablanca.
This partnership aims to establish an annual international exhibition and conference in Morocco, dedicated to healthcare, medical technology, digital health, and biotechnology. It seeks to stimulate innovation and reinforce Morocco's position as a regional hub for knowledge and investment in healthcare.
All three partners committed to advancing healthcare services and digital health technologies in Morocco and across Africa. The initiative also envisions creating an interactive platform for dialogue and cooperation involving policymakers, experts, researchers, healthcare stakeholders, and digital innovators. It aims to foster knowledge sharing, enhance public-private partnerships, attract foreign investment, and develop new opportunities in national and regional healthcare systems.
Additionally, the Ministry signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion to accelerate digital transformation in healthcare. This framework includes establishing a Digital Lab to design innovative digital solutions and improve national health system performance. It also aims to build a robust digital health innovation ecosystem in Morocco to increase the sector’s competitiveness and resilience.
On this occasion, the Minister visited several booths at GITEX Africa, engaging with local and international companies showcasing digital innovations. He highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence and biotechnology, praising the event's role in advancing the digitalization of Morocco’s health sector.
