Mohammed VI Polytechnic University Inaugurates First International Branch in Paris
The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), renowned for its leadership in higher education and research across the African continent, has recently inaugurated its inaugural international campus in Paris, operating under the banner "UM6P France." This strategic expansion, as outlined in a press statement, is aimed at fostering cross-cultural collaboration in education and innovation, thereby bridging Morocco, Africa, France, and beyond.
Under the direction of Director Fahd Benkirane, UM6P France is poised to provide executive training programs, research opportunities, and entrepreneurial support tailored for young professionals from Africa and Europe keen on contributing to Africa's development. Commencing this year, the Paris branch will introduce the first Europe-Africa green tech, clean tech, and med tech startup lab an exclusive one-year accelerator program spanning both continents. Entrepreneurs selected for this program will have access to top-tier instruction, mentorship, and UM6P's extensive network of industry experts, investors, and testing facilities across Morocco.
Established in 2017, UM6P has swiftly emerged as a leading research hub on the African continent. University President Hicham El Habti regards the new Paris campus as "the initial stride in UM6P's gradual international expansion," leveraging global Moroccan diaspora communities as advocates for showcasing Africa's foremost innovations to the world. Director Benkirane, on the other hand, envisions UM6P France as a catalyst for fostering profound academic, economic, and research collaborations across the Mediterranean, thereby enriching perspectives on pertinent issues such as sustainable development, food security, artificial intelligence, and public health.
With its focus on industry-driven education and pioneering research, UM6P is nurturing a new cohort of African leaders equipped to address global challenges. Spanning campuses in Benguerir, Rabat, Laayoune, and now Paris, this avant-garde Moroccan institution continues to forge strategic alliances that prioritize innovation for Morocco and the wider African continent.
