Marrakech Sustainable City Program: Review of the 2025 Action Plan
The Steering Committee of the "Marrakech, Sustainable City" Program recently held a meeting at the regional headquarters of Marrakech-Safi to review the planned projects for 2024 and the action plan for 2025. The session, chaired by Farid Chourak, the Governor of Marrakech-Safi, focused on the alignment of the program with ongoing and upcoming projects to ensure greater efficiency and good governance.
During the meeting, there was a strong emphasis on the need for synergy among the various stakeholders to enhance the program and address the challenges related to its implementation. Moreover, the importance of improved coordination among all involved parties was highlighted.
Chourak reiterated Morocco’s, and particularly the Marrakech-Safi region’s, steadfast commitment to sustainable development. He underlined the historical, civilizational, and environmental significance of Marrakech, particularly its ancient medina and the Palmeraie oases, which must be preserved for future generations.
The meeting saw participation from representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Vice President of the Marrakech Municipal Council, local elected officials, and other stakeholders. Additionally, the cooperation between national and international institutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was emphasized.
