Macron announces 93 billion euros foreign investment at Choose France summit
France secured a record 93 billion euros in foreign investment commitments during the latest edition of the Choose France summit, according to announcements made ahead of the event at Versailles. The figure covers 71 investment projects and is linked to more than 15,000 potential jobs across the country.
The annual summit gathers international business leaders at the Palace of Versailles to discuss and confirm investment opportunities in France. This year’s edition is described by French authorities as the largest since the event was launched, reflecting a sharp rise in commitments from global corporations in strategic sectors.
A major component of the announced investments comes from Japan’s SoftBank, which plans to invest 45 billion euros in France, with the potential to reach 75 billion euros over time. The project focuses on building large-scale artificial intelligence data centers, targeting between 3 GW and 5 GW of national capacity. The initiative highlights the growing competition among countries to host AI infrastructure and digital computing hubs.
SoftBank’s plan also includes cooperation with French industrial partners to develop manufacturing capacity for power modules used in data centers, including a site planned near the port of Dunkirk. French officials present these commitments as evidence of the country’s attractiveness, driven by low-carbon electricity supply, industrial infrastructure, and a large pool of engineering talent.
Authorities also link the investment momentum to France’s broader strategy to position itself as a European hub for artificial intelligence. This includes recent international initiatives aimed at attracting AI companies and scaling digital infrastructure. The government frames these inflows as part of a long-term effort to strengthen industrial sovereignty and boost high-value employment.
