Syria: Israeli Strikes Reported Near Beit Jinn, West of Damascus
The Beit Jinn area, located in the western outskirts of Damascus, was once again targeted by Israeli fire on Sunday. According to the official Syrian agency Sana, several shells struck the Tell Harboun sector, with no casualties reported. These bombings come after several similar incidents recorded in recent days around this locality.
Seven Shells Reported in the Tell Harboun Region
Israeli forces bombarded the vicinity of Beit Jinn in western Damascus on Sunday, according to reports from Sana.
The official Syrian agency reported seven shells falling in the Tell Harboun area. No injuries were reported following these strikes, according to the same source.
This latest strike comes as the Beit Jinn area has been experiencing a succession of Israeli military actions in recent days.
A Series of Strikes Around Beit Jinn
On Saturday, the Ain al-Chaara area, located north of Beit Jinn, had already been targeted by artillery fire. The shell hit agricultural land.
The day before, on Friday, several strikes also targeted the vicinity of a farm located in Beit Jinn as well as the Tell Bat al-Warda area, close to the locality.
The repetition of these incidents makes this part of the Damascus countryside a new point of tension in southwestern Syria.
Increased Israeli Military Presence in Syria
These strikes are part of a broader context of tensions between Israel and the new Syrian authorities.
Since the takeover in Damascus at the end of 2024 by Ahmad el-Chareh, whose rebel coalition overthrew Bashar el-Assad, Israel has intensified military operations on Syrian territory.
The Israeli army has conducted hundreds of strikes and carried out incursions in southern Syria. Troops have also been deployed in the UN-monitored buffer zone that previously separated Israeli and Syrian forces on the Golan Heights.
Israel claims to have established a "security zone" in this area, amid a redefinition of the military situation near its border.
A Continually Tense Situation
The recent bombings reported around Beit Jinn illustrate the persistence of tensions in this part of Syria. As the country undergoes a new political configuration following the fall of Bashar el-Assad, Israeli operations continue to alter the security situation in the south and west of Syrian territory.
The absence of reported casualties following the latest strikes does not diminish the significance of this series of incidents, which occur in an already heavily militarized region.
