The Kosovo Parliament reappointed Albin Kurti as head of government on Sunday, just months after the snap legislative elections in June. His party, the Vetëvendosje Movement, topped the ballot in a country that has faced a series of institutional crises and political deadlocks for over a year.

A New Mandate for Albin Kurti

Albin Kurti officially resumes his role as Prime Minister after leading his party to victory in the legislative elections on June 7, 2026.

The Movement for Self-Determination (Vetëvendosje) achieved the best result in the elections, but did not reach the necessary threshold to govern with a parliamentary majority on its own. This situation prolonged discussions on forming a new executive.

Kurti's reappointment comes after a period marked by significant political instability, with Kosovo having held several snap legislative elections in less than two years.
