Tennis: Morocco Claims Three African Titles in U14 Category
Moroccan tennis delivered an outstanding performance at the U14 African Championships. Held from September 7 to 12 at the Royal Tennis Club of Mohammedia, the competition saw young Moroccan representatives secure three of the four continental titles up for grabs, both in singles and doubles.
A Bounty of Titles for Young Moroccans
Morocco dominated the U14 African Championships held in Mohammedia. Out of the four titles awarded during this edition, three went to young Moroccan players.
In boys' singles, Soulaymane Jamji rose to the continental title after a particularly convincing performance. The Moroccan dominance was also evident in the semifinals, with three Moroccan players among the four semifinalists: Soulaymane Jamji, Reda Dhimni, and Adam Smihi.
This strong representation in the later stages of the competition illustrates the depth of talent in Morocco for this age category.
A 100% Moroccan Final for Girls
The girls' draw also turned in favor of Morocco. The final of the girls' singles featured two national representatives, ensuring the Kingdom the title even before the last match.
Dina Jaoid ultimately won this final against Yacout El Rhaffouli, clinching the title of U14 African Champion. Her compatriot finished as the runner-up on the continent.
This entirely Moroccan final is one of the highlights of this edition, with two young players from the Kingdom at the top of the African standings.
Jamji and Smihi Also Triumph in Doubles
The third Moroccan title came from the boys' doubles. Teaming up for the occasion, Soulaymane Jamji and Adam Smihi won the title of U14 African Champions.
For Jamji, this victory complements a particularly successful run in Mohammedia, as he had already secured the continental title in singles.
Mohammedia, a Stage for a Great National Performance
Held at the Royal Tennis Club of Mohammedia (RTCMO), this edition of the U14 African Championships provided a showcase for young Moroccan tennis talent.
With three titles out of four, along with an entirely Moroccan girls' final and a strong presence in the boys' singles semifinals, the national delegation confirms its potential in youth categories.
These results also send an encouraging signal for the future of Moroccan tennis, through a generation that is already starting to shine on the continental stage.
