The global community is united in mourning following the devastating helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and several other officials. The tragic incident unfolded on Sunday at approximately 3:45 p.m. local time when the helicopter went down in the Dizmar forest, situated between the cities of Varzaqan and Jolfa in East Azerbaijan province.

Authorities attribute the crash to severe weather conditions, including heavy fog, mist, and rain, which posed significant challenges to the subsequent rescue efforts. Despite immediate search operations, the harsh terrain and inclement weather hampered the mission, and it was not until early Monday that the bodies of the Iranian delegation and crew were recovered from the wreckage.

In accordance with the Iranian Constitution, Vice President Mohammad Mokhber will assume the presidential duties until new elections are held within the next 50 days.

The tragic loss of President Raisi has sparked an outpouring of condolences and expressions of solidarity from leaders and organizations worldwide. Afghan Acting Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund extended deep sympathies to the Iranian people during these difficult times, while Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas emphasized the close ties between Palestine and Iran. Lebanon's Hezbollah praised the dedication of the deceased leaders to their nation's causes.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan remembered Raisi with respect and gratitude for his efforts toward regional peace, and Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, called the incident an immense tragedy and profound loss.

Russian President Vladimir Putin described Raisi as a significant politician and a true friend of Russia, acknowledging his efforts to strengthen bilateral relations. European Council President Charles Michel extended the European Union's sincere condolences, while Italy's Prime Minister Georgia Meloni acknowledged the accident and dismissed conspiracy theories.

Asian leaders also joined in expressing grief, with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim remembering Raisi's commitment to justice and peace, and Japan's government spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi conveying heartfelt condolences on behalf of Japan.

From the Middle East, Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and the UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum offered prayers and support, while Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Jordan's King Abdullah expressed solidarity with Iran.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted Raisi's role in strengthening India-Iran relations and expressed deep sorrow, while Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro praised Raisi as an exemplary leader and defender of sovereignty.
