Dubai to auction 60 distinctive vehicle licence plate numbers on October 24
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will offer 60 distinctive vehicle licence plate numbers at a public auction scheduled for October 24, 2026. The collection includes two-, three-, four- and five-digit combinations, as well as premium “Super” category numbers, catering to motorists and collectors interested in exclusive vehicle registrations.
The auction will take place at the Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City hotel. According to the authority, the available plates will feature codes including AA, BB, CC, H, U, V, W, X, Y and Z. Among the highlighted options are the two-digit premium combinations BB80, BB18 and CC44, alongside a range of other distinctive numbers.
Registration opened through the RTA’s official website and at its Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira and Al Barsha. On the day of the auction, participants will be welcomed from 2 p.m., giving registered bidders the opportunity to take part in the sale.
The RTA has set specific eligibility and payment requirements for participants. Bidders must have a traffic file registered in Dubai and provide a refundable security deposit cheque of AED 25,000. An additional participation fee of AED 120 is required and is non-refundable.
Successful bidders must settle the full price of their purchased numbers within 10 working days of the auction. Failure to meet this deadline may result in the forfeiture of the security deposit and the bidder being placed on the authority’s list of non-compliant participants. The RTA also confirmed that sales are subject to a 5% value-added tax (VAT).
Under the announced rules, individuals may acquire multiple distinctive plate numbers, provided they comply with the applicable terms and conditions. The auction forms part of the RTA’s efforts to offer a wider selection of premium registration numbers to customers and enthusiasts.
Distinctive vehicle plates have become a specialised market in the United Arab Emirates, where short or memorable number combinations can attract interest from motorists and collectors. Through periodic auctions, Dubai’s transport authority provides a formal channel for interested buyers to compete for selected registration numbers under established participation and payment rules.
