Li Auto L8 hybrid crossover prepares for official launch in Russia
Chinese automaker Li Auto has completed the certification process for its L8 hybrid crossover in Russia, paving the way for the model’s official market launch. The vehicle is expected to expand the brand’s local lineup as Chinese manufacturers continue to strengthen their presence in Russia’s automotive sector.
The five-seat L8 will join the brand’s existing offerings in the country, following the introduction of its flagship L9 Livis. The upcoming launch reflects Li Auto’s efforts to adapt its vehicles to local requirements and provide Russian customers with models designed specifically for their market.
Unlike vehicles imported in standard configurations, the Russian-market L8 will be supplied in an official specification tailored to local users. The manufacturer says the infotainment system will feature Russian-language interfaces and compatible mobile applications, alongside integration with Yandex services. These adaptations are intended to make the vehicle’s digital features more accessible to drivers in Russia.
The company has also indicated that the primary user account will be registered through an email address. Further details, including pricing, available trim levels and the full technical specifications of the Russian-market version, are expected to be announced at a later stage.
In its Chinese-market configuration, the Li Auto L8 measures 5,135 millimetres in length and has a wheelbase of 3,045 millimetres. Its dimensions provide a spacious cabin for five occupants, positioning the vehicle within the large crossover segment.
The model uses a series-hybrid powertrain rated at 571 horsepower. In this configuration, a 1.5-litre internal combustion engine operates as a generator to supply electricity and recharge a 72.7-kilowatt-hour battery, while electric power drives the vehicle. This approach combines electric driving characteristics with an onboard energy-generation system, reducing reliance on charging infrastructure compared with a fully electric vehicle.
The L8 also features a two-chamber air suspension system designed to improve ride comfort and adapt to different road conditions. According to the published specifications for the Chinese version, the crossover can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in approximately 4.8 seconds.
The final specifications and equipment of the Russian-market model may differ from those of the Chinese version. Details about the launch schedule, pricing and available configurations will help determine how the L8 is positioned against other hybrid crossovers in Russia’s increasingly competitive market.
