Gaza Crisis: UN Adopts Ramadan Ceasefire Resolution Amid Continued Israeli Offensive

In a long-awaited development, the United Nations Security Council has adopted Resolution 2728, urging an immediate ceasefire in the embattled Gaza Strip for the duration of the holy month of Ramadan. The death toll in the besieged enclave has soared to a staggering 32,414, with at least 74,787 civilians sustaining injuries since hostilities escalated on October 7. In the past 24 hours alone, Israeli forces have claimed the lives of 81 individuals and injured over 93 victims, exacerbating the already dire situation.

While the resolution was eagerly anticipated globally, many have voiced dissatisfaction with its limited timeframe, as it solely calls for a temporary pause during Ramadan, which will conclude in a matter of weeks.
