Chinese foreign minister to visit Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway
China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to embark on a week-long diplomatic mission across Northern Europe, underscoring Beijing's continued engagement with the Nordic region at a time of evolving geopolitical and economic dynamics.
The Chinese foreign ministry announced that Wang Yi will travel to Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway from July 2 to July 8, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts in each country.
The visit forms part of China's broader diplomatic outreach to European nations as Beijing seeks to maintain dialogue on a range of strategic issues, including trade, economic cooperation, climate policy and international security. While the foreign ministry has not released a detailed agenda, discussions are expected to cover areas of mutual interest as well as regional and global developments.
The Nordic countries occupy an important place in China's relations with Europe, particularly in sectors such as green technologies, innovation, maritime industries and sustainable development. At the same time, relations have become increasingly complex in recent years amid heightened scrutiny of security, critical infrastructure, supply chains and investment.
Wang Yi's meetings will provide an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on bilateral cooperation while addressing broader international challenges that continue to shape relations between China and European partners.
The diplomatic tour comes as China works to deepen communication with European governments through high-level exchanges, reflecting Beijing's effort to preserve stable political and economic ties despite an increasingly uncertain global landscape.
