Al Barid Bank empowers Moroccan professionals with Visa Business card launch

Al Barid Bank has unveiled its new Visa Business card, a strategic initiative aimed at supporting Morocco’s professionals, entrepreneurs, and small business owners. This launch comes as the country’s digital economy accelerates, offering a robust financial tool tailored to the unique needs of freelancers, artisans, merchants, and small enterprises.

Developed in collaboration with Visa, the card is designed to simplify treasury management, expense tracking, and both local and international transactions. It also provides access to exclusive benefits from over 30 global partners, helping users streamline operations and enhance their competitiveness in a fast-evolving marketplace.

Al Amine Nejjar, President of the Management Board at Al Barid Bank, emphasized the card’s importance in addressing the daily challenges of professionals and small businesses. "This launch represents a significant step in our commitment to empowering TPEs, merchants, artisans, and self-entrepreneurs with innovative solutions that drive growth and competitiveness," he stated.

The rise of digital payments in Morocco has created a favorable environment for such initiatives. According to Visa’s Stay Secure study, 97% of Moroccans actively take measures to ensure transaction security, reflecting growing digital literacy and trust. Features like SMS verification codes, used by 82% of consumers, have bolstered confidence in electronic payments.

Sami Romdhane, General Manager of Visa Morocco, highlighted the alignment between this launch and Visa’s mission to advance financial inclusion. "With Al Barid Bank, we aim to expand access to digital payments and support the TPEs and merchants driving Morocco’s economy," he said.

The Visa Business card rollout is part of broader efforts to modernize Morocco’s payment ecosystem. Recent collaborations, such as Visa’s work with Attijari Payment and fintech Woliz, demonstrate the sector’s collective push toward inclusivity and security. Visa’s $3.3 billion investment in AI-based fraud prevention tools has further solidified trust in digital transactions, blocking $40 billion in fraudulent payments globally last year.

Al Barid Bank’s initiative ensures that even businesses in remote areas can access this financial tool, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to inclusivity. By equipping Moroccan entrepreneurs with innovative solutions, the Visa Business card serves as a vital resource for navigating a rapidly digitalizing economy.

This launch underscores the collaborative efforts of banks, global payment leaders, and fintech innovators in building a more secure and inclusive digital future for Morocco. Entrepreneurs now have a powerful tool to drive their ambitions forward in an increasingly connected world.
