AFCON 2025: RedOne Unveils ‘Maghribi Maghribi’ as Morocco’s Official Anthem
World-renowned Moroccan producer RedOne is set to release a historic anthem dedicated to Morocco's national football team, the Lions of Atlas. Titled "Maghribi Maghribi", the song is slated for an official unveiling on Monday, January 27, 2025, during the draw ceremony for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2025 in Marrakech. This dynamic piece will serve not only as the official anthem for the Moroccan team during the CAN tournament but also in other international competitions they participate in.
An unprecedented initiative inspired by Moroccan pride
Known for global hits like Real Madrid’s anthem, "Hala Madrid Y Nada Más", RedOne, whose real name is Nadir Khayat, is now channeling his creative genius into a purely Moroccan project. "Maghribi Maghribi" marks the beginning of an ambitious album featuring 100% Moroccan content, further cementing RedOne’s dedication to showcasing his homeland's rich cultural heritage.
This initiative was strongly encouraged by Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), who provided unwavering support to bring this vision to life. For the first time in history, the Moroccan national team will have a dedicated anthem aimed at inspiring and motivating them during major sporting events. This milestone also positions Morocco as the first country in the world to embark on such an artistic and cultural endeavor, led by a creator of RedOne's caliber.
A personal dedication to Morocco's national team
Having collaborated with international music icons like Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and Enrique Iglesias, RedOne now turns his attention to his home country. Co-written with lyricist Abdullah Falah, "Maghribi Maghribi" reflects RedOne’s deep passion for elevating Morocco’s presence on both African and global stages.
RedOne describes the project as more than just music: “This is a declaration of national pride, a call for unity, and a celebration of our nation’s strength and solidarity.” The album, which will include other Moroccan-themed tracks, has been carefully crafted to resonate with Moroccans worldwide. "Every song is designed to stir a deep love for our national team and highlight the richness of our culture," RedOne emphasized.
He further noted that music’s unique power lies in its ability to unite people, stating: "This album is not just about football—it's about bringing Moroccans together to support our heroes in every step of the African competition."
A rallying call for national pride
"Maghribi Maghribi" embodies the unifying force of music, bridging communities and igniting national pride. Whether on the field, in the stands, or on the streets, the anthem aims to inspire Moroccans to embrace the collective spirit of the Lions of Atlas. "This song is a symbol of our shared identity and a reminder to celebrate every moment of the competition with passion and pride," RedOne remarked.
He also encouraged Moroccans around the world to make this anthem their rallying cry, whether in stadiums, at home, or across social media. "Our national team needs our unwavering support, and this begins with this special song," he said.
For RedOne, "Maghribi Maghribi" is more than just a song; it is a gift to every Moroccan who carries their homeland in their heart. "This is our moment to show the world that Morocco stands for passion, determination, and unity," he declared.
A vision for future collaborations
RedOne’s partnership with the FRMF, under Fouzi Lekjaa’s leadership, promises to extend beyond "Maghribi Maghribi". The song marks the start of a series of artistic and sporting initiatives with global aspirations. United under the slogan, "Together, with RedOne’s vision, we reignite the heart of Morocco," this collaboration sets the stage for a new era of cultural and athletic pride.
With "Maghribi Maghribi", RedOne reinforces the enduring connection between music and national identity, offering Moroccans a powerful anthem to cheer their team on and celebrate their heritage.
