Lartiste ready to celebrate Morocco’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations
French-Moroccan singer Lartiste has settled in Rabat to immerse himself in the excitement of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). In an interview with RMC Sport, the 40-year-old artist shared his enthusiasm for experiencing the tournament up close, especially amid Morocco’s energetic football fans.
Lartiste plans to spend most of his time in the streets and local cafés, soaking up the festive atmosphere, rather than attending every match in the stands. He highlighted the unique excitement of the event: “Rabat will erupt with joy. When Moroccans celebrate, it’s truly a celebration!”
The artist has been closely following the tournament preparations and has spoken with Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan Royal Football Federation (FRMF), who assured him that the country is fully ready. Lartiste sees this CAN as a “full-scale test” ahead of Morocco co-hosting the 2030 World Cup.
On the pitch, Lartiste believes Morocco must aim for the title while maintaining humility. He considers the midfield crucial, pointing to Azzedine Ounahi as a key player, and praises young talents such as Bilal El Khannouss, Ben Seghir, Saibari, and Hamza Igamane for their energy and skill. He also emphasizes Achraf Hakimi’s symbolic role as a unifying figure for the Moroccan people.
Regarding coach Walid Regragui, Lartiste compares his strong personality to renowned football managers and stresses that team cohesion remains the priority. He is optimistic about Morocco’s prospects following their impressive performances in previous tournaments and views the CAN as an opportunity to dream even bigger.
Lartiste’s latest track, Hadak Zine, created with Nej’, Benny Adam, and Khadija Taayalt, reflects the spirit of the tournament, blending Arabic, Amazigh, English, and French to resonate with audiences across Africa.
