Israeli Citizen's Alleged Role in Iranian Assassination Plot Shocks Authorities

In May, Maman returned to Turkey to meet with Iranian representatives, where he was tasked with "advancing assassination attacks" on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, or Shin Bet head Ronen Bar. The Iranian intelligence officials also explored the possibility of targeting other senior officials, indicating a broader scope for their revenge-driven plans.

Maman's alleged actions have been described as a "very serious affair" by a senior Shin Bet official, who emphasized the significant efforts of Iranian intelligence agencies to recruit Israeli citizens for terror activities. The official warned that Iran is likely to continue its recruitment attempts, particularly targeting Israelis with criminal backgrounds.
