Championing Sustainable Development and Equality in Essaouira
ESSAOUIRA, Morocco - The iconic coastal city of Essaouira played host to a diverse delegation of forward-thinking youth from Europe and North Africa during the 7th Euro-Mediterranean Forum of Young Leaders. Organized by youth advocacy groups and the French embassy, this three-day conference provided a dynamic platform for over one hundred young change-makers. Their goal was to exchange ideas, build networks, and foster cross-cultural understanding centered on shared values.
Themed "Sustainable Development, Circular Economy - Equality," the forum facilitated thoughtful dialogue and reflective discussions. Its aim was to empower youth civic participation and social activism in the Euro-Med region. André Azoulay, senior advisor to King Mohammed VI, underscored the importance of preserving and transmitting Essaouira's rich cultural fabric of tolerance and diversity to the rising generations, especially in the current reactionary epoch.
French Ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Lecourtier, envisioned the forum as a springboard "to enable everyone to express their ideas, confront their opinions, and explore solutions" to challenges intersecting economic, environmental, and social realms. By investing in youth committed to driving progress in their communities, the forum aspires to create a ripple effect, catalyzing broader positive change.
