Morocco’s 2026 baccalaureate success rate reaches 81.6% after retake session
Morocco’s national baccalaureate results for 2026 have improved significantly following the completion of the retake session, with the overall success rate reaching 81.6%, according to figures released by the Ministry of National Education.
A total of 337,192 candidates obtained their high school diploma after combining results from the regular and retake sessions. The second examination period enabled thousands of additional students to complete their academic journey and secure their qualification.
Retake session adds more than 64,000 successful candidates
The retake exams, held on July 2, 3 and 4, recorded an attendance rate of 86%. During this phase, 64,586 additional candidates passed the baccalaureate, contributing to the rise in the national success rate.
The ministry also highlighted differences in performance between female and male candidates. Girls achieved a success rate of 84.5%, compared with 78.6% among boys, continuing a trend of stronger female performance in national examinations.
Free candidates face greater challenges
Results among independent candidates remained more limited compared with students enrolled in schools.
Across both examination sessions, 31,034 free candidates successfully obtained their diploma, representing a success rate of 54.5%. Among them, 9,549 candidates passed during the retake session.
The figures reflect the additional difficulties often faced by candidates outside the traditional school system, including differences in academic support and preparation conditions.
More than half of graduates earn distinctions
The 2026 results also showed strong academic performance among successful candidates, with 57% of graduates receiving honors.
During the regular session alone, 262,442 students from public and private schools passed the baccalaureate exams. This represented a 5% increase compared with the regular session of 2025, when 250,075 candidates were successful.
Education authorities highlight positive trend
The latest figures underline a continued effort by Moroccan education authorities to improve examination outcomes and strengthen student support mechanisms.
With more than 337,000 new graduates joining the country’s higher education and professional training pathways, the 2026 baccalaureate marks an important milestone for Morocco’s education system.
