El Salvador reaffirms support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara
The Vice President of El Salvador, Félix Ulloa, reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, including the Sahara region, during a meeting held Monday in San Salvador.
The discussions took place as part of the second session of political consultations between the two nations and included Fouad Yazourh, Morocco’s ambassador and director general of international political affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad.
"Since 2019, El Salvador has strengthened its cooperation with Morocco, further solidifying these ties with the opening of its embassy in Rabat in 2022. These steps have been instrumental in shaping Salvadoran foreign policy and reaffirming our support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara," stated Vice President Ulloa.
During the meeting, Yazourh highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Morocco and El Salvador and emphasized the mutual commitment to deepening cooperation across a range of sectors.
He also reiterated the shared dedication of Rabat and San Salvador to promoting peace, respecting sovereignty, and advancing development, aligning with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Yazourh praised the transformational initiatives underway in El Salvador under President Nayib Bukele, which have bolstered the nation’s security, stability, and economic progress.
The Moroccan ambassador further expressed the kingdom’s commitment to enhancing economic and trade collaboration with El Salvador.
The meeting was attended by several officials, including Brahim Baddi, chargé d’affaires at Morocco’s embassy in San Salvador; Nezha Attahar, director of American affairs; Ismail Chekkori, director of global issues; and Saloua Bichri, head of the Latin America division.
