As Elon Musk’s influence continues to grow, concerns arise about the impact on ongoing investigations into his vast business empire. In December 2024, during the final days of the Biden administration, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) set a tight deadline for Musk to settle allegations related to securities violations during his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter. Musk responded publicly, criticizing the SEC and suggesting political motivations behind the investigation. However, as the political landscape shifts with the incoming Trump administration, the future of federal probes into Musk's companies remains uncertain.

Musk has long been vocal about government oversight, often portraying himself as a victim of bureaucratic interference stifling his ventures. Musk’s involvement in a new “Department of Government Efficiency” advisory role has further fueled speculation about his ability to influence regulatory and policy decisions. If Musk succeeds in using his position to shape national regulations, particularly those regarding driverless vehicles, it could result in favorable outcomes for Tesla, while potentially undermining regulations that Musk sees as irrational.
