Outrage Erupts Over Israeli Police Dog Attack on Elderly Palestinian Woman

A harrowing video leaked on Tuesday has ignited widespread outrage after showing an Israeli police dog viciously attacking an elderly Palestinian woman inside her home. The incident occurred during a raid on the Jabalia refugee camp several weeks ago.

The footage, obtained by Al Jazeera, has sparked a firestorm on social media and drawn widespread condemnation. Captured from a camera mounted on the dog, the video reveals the 66-year-old woman’s terrifying ordeal as she screams while being savagely attacked.

The victim, Dawlat Al Tanani, sustained severe injuries and fractures from the assault. In an interview with Al Jazeera, she recounted the events leading up to the attack, stating that Israeli forces set the dog on her because she refused to leave her home.

“I refuse to be forced out of my house, nor will I abandon my home. So the Israelis set a dog on me, which bit me while I was sleeping in my bed. It dragged me and pulled me all the way to the entrance door,” Al Tanani said.

“Now I have a serious injury. There are no hospitals or anything to treat my injury. My hand is still untreated,” she added.

The incident has amplified accusations against the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) of employing extreme measures of torture and violence against civilians. This stands in stark contrast to the IOF’s self-proclaimed status as “the most moral army in the world.”

The video has been widely circulated on social media, with users expressing shock and disbelief at the extent of the brutality inflicted upon Palestinians by the IOF.

Many activists have highlighted that such actions, including the use of police dogs against civilians, have been a longstanding and troubling practice by Israeli forces.

“Israel/Zionist Occupiers brutality clearly has no limits…training dogs to rape and attack Palestinians. The daily massacres (are) getting (more) gruesome by the day,” commented one social media user.

The distressing footage and the subsequent public outcry underscore the ongoing and deeply rooted tensions between Israeli forces and Palestinian civilians. As international attention on the incident grows, calls for accountability and justice for the victims of such violent acts continue to intensify.
