Mohammed V airport handles nearly 7 million passengers in seven months

Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca recorded strong growth in passenger traffic during the first seven months of 2026, handling nearly seven million travelers, according to figures released by Morocco’s National Airports Office.

The airport welcomed 6,953,695 passengers between January and the end of July, compared with 6,338,610 during the same period in 2025. The increase represents a 9.7% rise in passenger traffic, reinforcing Casablanca’s position as Morocco’s main international air gateway.

July alone saw 1,197,152 passengers pass through Mohammed V airport, up from 1,111,866 during the same month a year earlier. Passenger traffic therefore increased by 7.67% year on year.

International flights accounted for the overwhelming majority of traffic. In July, 1,084,506 passengers traveled through international services, compared with 1,009,313 in July 2025, representing an increase of 7.45%.

Domestic traffic also recorded significant growth. The airport handled 112,646 passengers on domestic flights in July, compared with 102,553 a year earlier, an increase of 9.84%.

During the first seven months of the year, international passenger traffic reached 6,241,920, up 9.63% from 5,693,531 during the corresponding period in 2025.

Domestic traffic also expanded over the same period, reaching 711,775 passengers compared with 645,079 a year earlier. This represented growth of 10.34%.

The increase at Mohammed V airport forms part of a broader expansion in Morocco’s air transport sector. Across the country, Moroccan airports handled 22,282,997 commercial passengers during the first seven months of 2026, an 8.77% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

National passenger traffic also reached 3,450,846 in July alone, compared with 3,184,027 in July 2025, marking annual growth of 8.38%.

The continued rise in passenger numbers reflects growing demand for air travel to and from Morocco, supported by international connectivity, tourism activity, business travel and increased mobility during the summer period.

With international traffic accounting for the largest share of activity at Mohammed V airport, the Casablanca hub remains central to Morocco’s connections with Europe, Africa and other international destinations. The latest figures point to continued momentum in the country’s aviation sector as Morocco expands its airport infrastructure and strengthens its role as an air transport hub between continents.
