Larache landslide claims two lives, one missing

A landslide caused by heavy storm rains in Bni Arouss, near Larache, Morocco, has resulted in the deaths of two women and left another woman missing, authorities reported on Wednesday.

The tragedy occurred in the Boujariya Habriya neighborhood of the Bni Arouss commune, where a traditional house collapsed under the force of the landslide. Local residents and emergency teams quickly intervened, recovering the bodies of the two women from the debris.

Search operations are ongoing for the third missing woman. Rescue teams face challenges due to difficult terrain, ongoing rainfall, and rising waters in nearby streams, which complicate access to the site.

The incident has deeply affected the local community, prompting calls for enhanced preventive measures, including monitoring and securing homes at risk, especially in areas prone to heavy rainfall and climate-related hazards.
