Kasada seeks 2026 hotel deal in Morocco

Kasada, a hospitality investment platform, is setting its sights on a hotel deal in Morocco, as reported by Bloomberg. The company anticipates entering North Africa’s tourism industry in the first half of 2026.

The report indicates that Kasada has begun taking proactive steps, including the opening of an office in Casablanca to explore the abundant opportunities in Morocco. Olivier Granet, managing partner and co-chief executive officer of Kasada, highlighted that North Africa, particularly Morocco, is a priority for the company, which has emerged as the leading tourism destination on the African continent.

“For us to be the leading platform, we have to become pan-African,” Granet told Bloomberg.

Morocco's tourism sector has been breaking records, welcoming 17.4 million tourists, marking a 20% increase compared to 2023. This influx signifies unprecedented growth, surpassing the country’s target for 2026 and establishing Morocco as the most-visited country in Africa.

Recent data reveals that Morocco has attracted an average of USD 3.5 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) annually across various sectors over the past five years, with $2.2 billion specifically allocated to tourism between 2014 and 2023. Reports emphasize that Morocco is outpacing Egypt to become a regional leader in the tourism industry.

Bloomberg underscored Morocco’s tourism appeal, citing the country's rich assets and upcoming international events, such as the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2025 and the FIFA World Cup in 2030. David Damiba, Kasada’s managing partner and co-chief executive officer, echoed Granet’s sentiments, expressing optimism about the vast opportunities in Africa.

“We think that there’s scope to increase the scale of what we’ve built already by a factor of two to three times fairly easily in these markets while being concentrated to take advantage of our scale in core cities,” he stated.

In addition to its focus on Morocco, Kasada aims to expand its luxury hospitality presence across sub-Saharan Africa, reflecting the company's ambitious growth strategy.
