Morocco-France: Akhannouch announces the operational phase of the enhanced exceptional partnership
The strategic partnership between Morocco and France has reached a new milestone. Following the 15th Morocco-France High-Level Meeting held on Thursday in Rabat, the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, stated that the enhanced exceptional partnership between the two countries is now fully committed to its implementation phase, with an acceleration of joint projects and a strengthening of cooperation mechanisms.
During a joint press conference with French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, Aziz Akhannouch emphasized that this new dynamic now transcends the historical framework of relations between the two states. According to him, Moroccan-French cooperation today rests on a common strategic vision, articulated around reinforced political convergence, renewed trust, and a shared willingness to address major economic, technological, and geopolitical challenges.
The Head of Government recalled that the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Morocco in October 2024 marked a turning point in bilateral relations. Since that date, more than forty high-level meetings and visits have brought together political leaders, public institutions, local authorities, universities, economic stakeholders, and representatives of civil society to realize the commitments made by both countries.
For Aziz Akhannouch, the participation of twenty-two Moroccan and French ministers in this meeting illustrates the importance placed on this partnership and the willingness of both governments to accelerate its deployment.
On the economic front, the government official highlighted the continuity of investments initiated since 2024. The eleven new agreements and cooperation instruments signed in Rabat complement the twenty-two strategic agreements concluded during the French presidential visit, representing an estimated investment volume of nearly ten billion euros.
These new commitments concern several priority sectors, including health, transportation, civil aviation, education, decentralized cooperation, the promotion of the Arabic language, as well as other strategic areas aimed at strengthening the complementarities between the Moroccan and French economies.
Aziz Akhannouch also stressed the quality of political dialogue between Rabat and Paris, estimating that it has now reached an unprecedented level. This ongoing consultation fosters, according to him, better coordination on key regional and international issues, in a context marked by profound geopolitical changes.
The Head of Government finally reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to continue the implementation of the enhanced exceptional partnership in accordance with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He specified that joint commissions, working groups, and sectoral committees will be called upon to ensure rigorous follow-up of commitments, accelerate the execution of ongoing projects, and identify new initiatives likely to further strengthen strategic relations between Morocco and France.
