The interim president of Venezuela has received an invitation from the White House, signaling a potential shift in relations between Washington and Caracas after years of diplomatic tension. A US official confirmed that talks are under way, though no date for the visit has yet been announced.

Speaking publicly, the Venezuelan leader emphasized the importance of dialogue with the United States, describing the current phase as one of diplomatic engagement aimed at addressing sensitive political and economic issues. Despite remaining under US sanctions, she expressed confidence in resolving differences through negotiation rather than confrontation.

If the visit takes place, it would mark the first official trip by a Venezuelan head of state to the United States in more than two decades, excluding participation in United Nations meetings. Observers see the invitation as part of a pragmatic approach by the US administration, particularly in light of strategic interests such as energy cooperation.

At the same time, Washington appears to be keeping multiple channels open, maintaining contacts with both the interim leadership and figures from the Venezuelan opposition. However, human rights organizations note that progress remains slow, with many political prisoners still behind bars. As negotiations continue, the situation reflects a fragile balance between international pressure, internal power dynamics, and hopes for a broader political transition.
