Russia sends humanitarian aid to earthquake-hit Venezuela as relief efforts continue

Russia has delivered humanitarian assistance to Venezuela following the country's devastating twin earthquakes, with the first relief aircraft arriving in Caracas carrying food and other essential supplies for affected communities.

Russian officials said additional humanitarian shipments are expected as international relief efforts continue in response to the disaster.

First Russian aid flight arrives in Caracas

The humanitarian aircraft landed on Sunday at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, near Caracas, according to Russia's Foreign Ministry.

The shipment was received by Russian Ambassador Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov alongside Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Rubén Darío Molina Peña, marking the latest cooperation between the two countries in responding to the emergency.

The cargo included food and other basic supplies intended to support people impacted by the earthquakes.

Moscow expresses solidarity with Venezuela

Speaking upon the aircraft's arrival, Ambassador Melik-Bagdasarov extended Russia's condolences to the Venezuelan people over the loss of life and destruction caused by the twin earthquakes.

He said Russia stands alongside Venezuela during the crisis and confirmed that the delivery represents the first phase of Russian humanitarian assistance.

According to Russian officials, a second aircraft carrying additional emergency supplies is expected to arrive in the near future.

International relief operations continue

The aid delivery forms part of broader efforts to support Venezuela's recovery after the powerful earthquakes caused significant human and material losses.

Humanitarian assistance remains focused on providing food, essential goods and emergency support to affected communities while authorities continue rescue, recovery and damage assessment operations.

As relief efforts expand, international partners are expected to continue contributing assistance to help address the humanitarian needs created by the disaster.
