Royal grace granted to 1,533 individuals for Eid al-Fitr

Royal grace granted to 1,533 individuals for Eid al-Fitr

In a gesture of compassion during Eid al-Fitr, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Amir Al-Mouminine, has granted royal grace to 1,533 individuals sentenced by various courts throughout the Kingdom, as announced by the Ministry of Justice.

The official statement details the distribution of royal grace among the recipients:

Incarcerated individuals: A total of 1,203 prisoners benefit from the royal pardon, categorized as follows:

- 20 inmates receive remission of the remaining prison term.

- 1,178 inmates have their prison terms fully commuted.

- 5 inmates have their life sentences converted to fixed-term sentences.

Individuals at liberty: Among those not currently in detention, 299 people receive royal grace, divided into the following categories:

- 54 individuals have their prison sentences or remaining terms pardoned.

- 16 individuals are granted grace on their prison terms while retaining their fines.

- 216 individuals benefit from grace on their fines.

- 12 individuals receive grace on both prison sentences and fines.

- 1 individual is pardoned from both fines and remaining imprisonment.

This auspicious occasion also sees royal grace extended to 31 inmates previously convicted in cases related to extremism and terrorism. These individuals have shown loyalty to national constants and institutions, revised their ideological stances, and renounced extremism. Their pardons are categorized as follows:

- 13 inmates receive remission of their remaining prison terms.

- 3 inmates have their remaining prison terms and fines pardoned.

- 12 inmates have their prison sentences fully commuted.

- 1 inmate's death sentence is commuted to life imprisonment.

- 1 inmate's life sentence is converted to a fixed-term sentence.

- 1 individual benefits from grace on their fine.
