ONDA launches operational command center at Mohammed V Airport

The National Airports Office (ONDA) has inaugurated a new Airport Operational Center (APOC) at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, marking a major step in modernizing airport operations.

The APOC centralizes supervision and coordination, bringing together all key operational stakeholders in one space, including the Ministry of Interior, National Security, the Royal Gendarmerie, Customs, airlines, ground handling services, the airport operator, air navigation and air traffic control teams, maintenance crews, and IT services.

Operating 24/7, the center oversees every aspect of airport operations: aircraft movement, runway and gate management, ground traffic, baggage flows, passenger pathways, security checkpoints, and boarding processes. It also handles mobility, parking, infrastructure monitoring, maintenance, and overall safety coordination.

For passengers, this translates into shorter waiting times, a smoother experience, and real-time information. Airlines benefit from better resource coordination, fewer delays, and enhanced operational efficiency.

With air traffic projected to grow by over 12% annually, the APOC addresses performance and resilience challenges, supporting Mohammed V Airport as a major national, African, and international hub. The center’s launch aligns with Morocco’s “Airports 2030” strategy and will be particularly crucial during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and other major international events.
