Niger: Over 220 terrorists "Neutralized" in October, according to army report
Niamey — Niger’s Defense and Security Forces announced that they “neutralized” 229 terrorists and arrested 721 individuals during October 2025, according to local media reports.
Those arrested face charges including criminal activity, complicity, and participation in a criminal organization, as part of Niger’s ongoing efforts to combat transnational crime and terrorism.
According to the army’s monthly information bulletin, air and ground operations led to the seizure of a significant cache of weapons, including rifles, ammunition, sticks of dynamite, and detonators.
The report also confirmed the detection and destruction of 29 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), while 11 others detonated without causing any loss of life.
These operations underscore Niger’s determination to strengthen national security amid persistent threats from armed groups active along its borders with Mali, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria.
