Morocco refutes diaspora drop rumors, highlights Marhaba 2025 success

Official data contradicts speculation

As of August 4, more than 2.78 million members of the Moroccan diaspora have entered the country under the Marhaba 2025 operation, a program designed to facilitate summer travel. This figure marks a significant increase of 10.37% compared to 2024, dispelling rumors circulating on social media about a decline in diaspora arrivals.

Omar Moussa Abdallah, a supervisor at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, shared the data during a statement on Tangier Med Radio. He emphasized that the operation continues to run smoothly, describing the rumors of reduced arrivals as "unfounded."

Growing numbers despite economic concerns

The number of vehicles entering Morocco since the launch of Marhaba 2025 on June 10 reached 838,360, reflecting a 3.74% increase from the previous year. Tangier Med Port alone received 555,753 passengers and 175,808 vehicles, accounting for 34.87% of total sea and land arrivals. Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport recorded the highest number of air arrivals, welcoming 320,395 individuals, representing 25% of expatriates flying into Morocco.

These figures counter claims that rising travel expenses and the high cost of living in Morocco have discouraged diaspora members from visiting.

Enhanced services at entry points

The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity highlighted its efforts to ensure a seamless transit experience. Entry points delivered 45,465 social, medical, and administrative services, including emergency transport for 50 cases, assistance for over 800 stranded travelers, and nearly 3,000 medical services.

Jaafar Ameyer, director of Tangier Med Passenger Port, celebrated the port’s role as the primary gateway for diaspora arrivals, noting a 6% and 4% growth in passenger and vehicle entries, respectively.

Marhaba 2025 continues to be hailed as a logistical and operational success, reinforcing Morocco’s commitment to its diaspora during the peak travel season.
