Morocco recognized as a leading tourist destination in Spain
The Kingdom of Morocco has strengthened its status as a major tourist destination in Europe, following two prestigious awards granted by Spanish tourism organizations. These accolades highlight the effectiveness of Morocco's strategic efforts to capture the Spanish market, which is vital to the country's tourism growth.
The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) was honored by the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV), naming Morocco as the "International Destination of the Year 2025." This award, received by ONMT Director General Achraf Fayda, recognizes Morocco’s sustained efforts in promoting and structuring its tourism offerings. The ONMT has effectively partnered with Spanish travel agencies and tour operators, ensuring Morocco remains a key recommendation in their travel programs.
The CEAV, Spain’s largest consortium of travel agencies, represents thousands of businesses across the country and plays a pivotal role in the Spanish tourism sector. This recognition reaffirms the strong collaboration between Morocco and Spanish tourism professionals.
Additionally, the Andalusian Federation of Travel Agencies (FAAV) awarded Morocco the title of "Preferred International Destination" among travel agencies in Andalusia. This accolade underscores Morocco's growing appeal in a critical regional market. The award was presented to Achraf Fayda by Antonio Caño, president of the Cordoba Travel Agencies Association and secretary general of the FAAV.
These achievements are further bolstered by improved connectivity, including enhanced air and maritime links between Spain and Morocco, facilitating travel and strengthening ties between the two nations.
By securing these two prominent distinctions, the ONMT has reinforced Morocco’s reputation as a reliable, high-performing, and sustainable destination on the Spanish market. This success is underpinned by the ONMT's long-term strategy of close collaboration with travel professionals, expanded direct-flight options, and a continually evolving tourism offering.
