Morocco allocates MAD 5.4 billion in housing aid by September 2025

Morocco’s government has announced that 66,305 citizens benefited from its housing aid program by the end of September 2025, marking significant progress in the state’s efforts to make homeownership more accessible.

Government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas revealed the data during a press briefing following the weekly cabinet council, confirming that the total amount distributed reached MAD 5.4 billion (approximately $589.7 million).

According to Baitas, around 37% of recipients are aged 30, highlighting the growing participation of young Moroccans in the housing initiative. Women also make up a notable portion of beneficiaries, accounting for 47%, while Moroccans residing abroad represent 24%.

The government received a total of 198,064 applications under the program. Data shows that 62% of requests concern housing units priced between MAD 300,000 ($32,760) and MAD 700,000 ($76,440), reflecting a strong demand for mid-range housing.

Launched in 2023, the national framework for state housing aid aims to facilitate citizens’ access to decent housing. The initiative offers direct financial support of MAD 100,000 ($10,920) for housing purchases valued below MAD 300,000.

To streamline the process, the Ministry of National Territorial Planning and Housing introduced a digital platform in January 2024, allowing applicants to submit their requests online. The system ensures transparency and efficiency, with eligibility verification completed within seven days of submission.

Applicants must meet several criteria to qualify, including not owning any residential property, not having previously received housing assistance, and committing to use the purchased home as their primary residence for at least five years.

The housing support program reflects Morocco’s broader strategy to address urban housing needs and strengthen social inclusion through equitable access to property ownership.
