Gaza starvation crisis deepens as death toll reaches 114 and malnutrition soars
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to escalate, with the death toll from starvation rising to 114. This morning, medical staff at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital confirmed the death of another child due to severe malnutrition, underscoring the dire situation in the besieged enclave.
According to the Wafa news agency, over 900,000 children in Gaza are now suffering from starvation, with 70,000 of them in the advanced stages of clinical malnutrition. The situation is exacerbated by the spread of waterborne diseases, including a significant rise in cases of watery and bloody diarrhea over the past three months.
International aid organizations, including Oxfam, have raised alarms about the deteriorating conditions. Oxfam warned that the recorded data on the crisis may underrepresent the full scale of the devastation. Despite appeals for urgent assistance, the crisis continues to worsen.
Worsening health and escalating violence
The health emergency in Gaza is compounded by ongoing violence. Al Jazeera reported that Israeli attacks killed at least 11 Palestinians since dawn, including four aid seekers. The humanitarian catastrophe is further fueled by the continuation of what many describe as genocidal assaults by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), targeting defenseless civilians under international observation.
Despite widespread international concern, Gaza remains trapped in a cycle of starvation, disease, and violence. The lack of clean water, food shortages, and limited access to medical care have left the population in a state of profound despair.
With no immediate resolution in sight, humanitarian organizations continue to call for urgent intervention to prevent further loss of life and irreversible damage to Gaza’s already vulnerable population.
