F1: Norris wins the sprint in Brazil as piastri crashes out

São Paulo, November 8, 2025 — British driver Lando Norris claimed victory in the sprint race of the Brazilian Grand Prix, while his McLaren teammate and title rival Oscar Piastri saw his race end in the barriers after an accident at Interlagos on Saturday.

Starting from pole position, Norris delivered a dominant performance to finish ahead of the two Mercedes drivers, Andrea Kimi Antonelli of Italy and George Russell of Great Britain. Meanwhile, reigning world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) came home in fourth place.

This result marks an excellent move in the World Championship standings for Norris, who gains 8 points on Piastri and 3 points on Verstappen, now leading them by 9 and 39 points, respectively.

The race was interrupted for nearly half an hour following a series of three consecutive accidents at the same corner. Piastri, then running third, lost control after hitting a wet kerb at turn 3 and slid into the tire wall. Moments later, Nico Hülkenberg (Sauber) and Franco Colapinto (Alpine) suffered identical fates.
