France is attempting to move past a diplomatic dispute with the United States. Its mission to the United Nations in Geneva expressed regret following a statement accusing Washington of undermining its commitment to human rights. The controversy originated from a publication posted on July 25 by the French mission to the United Nations in Geneva. Paris criticized the U.S. vote against the extension of the mandate of Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
