Deadly Blast Targets Chinese Nationals Near Karachi Airport

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group known for its opposition to Chinese involvement in the region, claimed responsibility for the attack. They identified the attacker as Shah Fahad, claiming he was part of their Majeed Brigade, which is known for carrying out suicide missions.
According to reports, the attack utilized a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED), causing extensive damage and igniting vehicles in the vicinity. Eyewitness accounts described thick smoke rising from the scene and emergency responders working to control the situation. Among the injured were a police constable and a civilian woman, with one person reported to be in critical condition.
The Chinese embassy in Pakistan condemned the attack as a "terrorist act" and emphasized the need for heightened security measures for its citizens. They urged all Chinese nationals and enterprises operating in Pakistan to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. The embassy also called for a thorough investigation into the incident and demanded justice for those responsible.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the bombing as a "heinous act" and reassured that Pakistan remains committed to protecting its Chinese partners. This incident underscores ongoing tensions in Balochistan, where separatist movements have long sought independence while targeting foreign interests, particularly those linked to China's Belt and Road Initiative.
