Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif delivers vital food aid to Gaza families
Morocco's humanitarian efforts alleviate Gaza's hardships
The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, in collaboration with the Ertiqaa Association for Community Development in Gaza, distributed 500 food baskets on Wednesday to displaced and impoverished families across the Gaza Strip.
This initiative, carried out under the Al-Quds Committee chaired by King Mohammed VI, targeted vulnerable families in areas such as Mawasi Khan Younis, central refugee camps, and Gaza City. It forms part of Morocco’s enduring commitment to the Palestinian cause, aiming to address food insecurity and alleviate the hardships faced by Gaza’s residents.
Broad support for urgent relief
The humanitarian project was financed by the Moroccan Association for the Support of Reconstruction in Palestine, with additional contributions from the Morocco-Palestine Solidarity Association. The distribution marks one of several stages in Morocco’s ongoing support for Gaza, reflecting the country’s official and popular solidarity with Palestine.
Earlier in May, Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif funded a prosthetics project for 23 children in Gaza who had suffered amputations. This initiative, implemented in coordination with the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development in Ramallah, received backing from Morocco’s Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family.
Beyond humanitarian aid
In addition to emergency relief, the agency has actively contributed to Gaza’s educational sector. It provided cloud servers and a remote learning platform to Al-Azhar University and awarded scholarships to students at the King Hassan II Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. Eight students were also given opportunities to pursue advanced studies at the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute in Rabat.
Gaza under siege
The distribution comes amid worsening conditions in Gaza, where 2.1 million residents face severe hunger due to ongoing blockades and shortages of essential supplies. In March, Israel halted all humanitarian aid and commercial deliveries to Gaza, resuming military offensives two weeks later after a two-month ceasefire with Hamas collapsed.
The United Nations has warned of catastrophic levels of hunger, with recent Israeli military actions exacerbating the crisis. Although the blockade has been slightly eased, the food allowed into Gaza remains insufficient to meet the needs of its population, leaving countless families reliant on international and regional aid efforts, such as those led by Morocco.
