Morocco launches digital and AI education drive for youth under Maroc Digital 2030
Morocco has officially launched a nationwide initiative to train children in digital literacy and artificial intelligence as part of its Maroc Digital 2030 strategy. The program was unveiled during a ceremony at the Youth House of Hassnouna in Tangier, marking a significant step in the country’s long-term vision to prepare young citizens for a digitally driven future.
Announced by Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaïd, the initiative aims to provide young people with the tools and competencies necessary to thrive in an increasingly technological world.
The program is grounded in a framework-partnership agreement signed on March 8, 2025, between the Ministry of Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the AI Movement at UM6P, with the support of UNESCO.
A national rollout with global ambitions
The first phase of the project is being implemented simultaneously across 12 cities. It features hands-on workshops for children and a “train-the-trainer” component, which has already certified 65 youth center staff members during a session held at UM6P between June 16 and 20.
According to Minister Seghrouchni, the initiative relies on accessible, child-friendly learning materials and emphasizes the safe, ethical use of technology. She underlined Morocco’s ambition to become a “producer of digital” rather than a mere consumer, fostering domestic innovation and nurturing AI talent.
Minister Bensaïd added that the program represents a structured, forward-looking approach to preparing young Moroccans for a rapidly evolving digital environment, where adaptability and technological awareness are essential.
A pillar of Maroc Digital 2030
The Maroc Digital 2030 strategy envisions the modernization of Morocco’s economy and public services through digital transformation. Artificial intelligence and the development of digital expertise stand at its core, with a strong focus on inclusion and equitable access to technology.
The newly launched training initiative reflects this commitment by prioritizing children’s early exposure to digital tools. It aims to build long-term digital capacity, promote technological equality, and ensure that rural and underserved communities are not left behind.
Once the pilot phase concludes, the program will expand to all youth houses across the country. The “training-the-trainer” model is designed to sustain and scale the initiative, creating a self-reinforcing system capable of adapting to regional needs and engaging more children over time.
Through this effort, Morocco reinforces its role as a regional leader in digital education and innovation, nurturing a generation ready to contribute to a sustainable, knowledge-based economy.
