Strengthening Saudi-Moroccan Cooperation: A Vision for the Future

Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, reaffirmed on Wednesday in Mecca the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening and expanding cooperation with Morocco across all sectors. His statement came during the 14th session of the Saudi-Moroccan Joint Commission, where he underscored the deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties between the two nations and the potential for strategic investment to serve their mutual interests.

This session aimed to elevate bilateral collaboration, leveraging shared perspectives on key Arab and Islamic issues. Morocco's Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, emphasized his country’s dedication to advancing and diversifying cooperation, aligning with broader strategic ambitions. He also congratulated Saudi Arabia on its recent achievements and noted that next year marks the 50th anniversary of the commission’s establishment, providing an opportunity to assess and enhance bilateral relations.

Bourita stressed the importance of supporting the commission’s efforts to maximize its effectiveness and ensure the implementation of agreed-upon recommendations. He highlighted the positive outcomes of previous sessions, which have contributed to deepening cooperation in multiple fields. He also advocated for increasing business exchanges between the two nations, particularly in Africa and in the context of the FIFA World Cup, both seen as key areas for economic partnership and investment.

Additionally, Bourita called for updating the legal framework governing bilateral relations to align with current developments. The session concluded with the signing of two agreements: one on customs cooperation, simplifying procedures for authorized economic operators, and another on environmental protection, focusing on governance, climate adaptation, waste management, circular economy, and biodiversity conservation.
