Gitex Africa 2024: Showcasing Morocco's Emergence as Africa's Trusted Digital Nexus

As the highly anticipated Gitex Africa 2024 draws near, Ghita Mezzour, Morocco's Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, has underscored the soaring confidence of global stakeholders in Morocco's digital ascent. The event, poised to host an impressive 1,400 companies from over 60 nations, is set to witness a remarkable 70% surge in overall participation compared to the previous year's edition.

Ghita Mezzour, on the sidelines of a press conference heralding the much-awaited event, shed light on the exponential growth expected this year. "We are anticipating 1,500 exhibitors compared to 900 last year, 800 start-ups versus 400 in the preceding edition, and over 50,000 visitors, a substantial increase from the around 30,000 attendees in 2023," she remarked.

This overwhelming enthusiasm, according to the minister, reflects the burgeoning trust of global players in positioning Morocco as a formidable regional force in the digital realm. "The event is poised to unlock new investment prospects, market access for companies, and job opportunities for Moroccan youth," Mezzour asserted, further emphasizing that Gitex Africa will reinforce Morocco's standing as a catalyst for Africa's digital development.

The event aims to showcase the latest innovations, trends, and possibilities in the digital sphere across the African continent, attracting visitors from over 130 nations. Gitex Africa promises to serve as a premier platform for stakeholders from various sectors, including government, academia, industry, and start-ups, to converge, exchange insights, and foster collaborations.

Echoing Mezzour's sentiments, Trixie Loh Mirmand, CEO of Kaoun International and EVP of Dubai World Center, highlighted Gitex Africa's pivotal role in uniting the diverse elements of the digital ecosystem. "Gitex Africa is a crucial event that brings together government officials, academia, investors, start-ups, future innovators, and, of course, the younger generation," Mirmand emphasized.

Mirmand commended Morocco's remarkable strides in digital transformation, lauding the country's burgeoning ecosystem of forward-thinking start-ups. "We have grown by 70% this year, and we're delighted to host 1,400 companies from more than 60 countries, including over 700 start-ups," she stated.

Moreover, Mirmand highlighted the substantial 85% growth in Moroccan representation, with over 530 Moroccan companies set to participate, underscoring the event's growing prominence as a premier platform for collaboration, innovation, and driving digital transformation across the African continent.

With discussions centered on cutting-edge technologies such as AI, cloud computing, IoT, and cybersecurity, Gitex Africa 2024 is poised to cement Morocco's emergence as Africa's trusted digital nexus, fostering cross-border partnerships and catalyzing the continent's digital transformation.
