Khouribga Prison Refutes Allegations of Mistreatment and Misconduct

The administration of the local prison in Khouribga has vehemently denied claims circulated on certain websites concerning alleged actions by some officials who reportedly humiliated and mistreated visitors to the local prison and displayed partiality in managing food baskets provided to inmates by their families, resulting in wastage of food. Additionally, the allegations claimed that inmates do not receive proper medical care and suffer from overcrowding.

In a statement released on Friday, the prison administration clarified that the operation of delivering Eid baskets, exceptionally announced by the General Delegation, is proceeding under normal conditions, with all visitors being treated in accordance with the law.

"The inspection of the basket's contents is carried out in compliance with the regulations in force, particularly regarding the quality and quantity of meals to be served to inmates without discrimination," the statement emphasized.

Furthermore, the administration dismissed the allegations of inmates being deprived of medical care as unfounded, asserting that all inmates regularly receive medical services both within and outside the facility.

Addressing the issue of overcrowding, the statement acknowledged it as an exogenous constraint, which the prison administration manages according to the facility's capacity.

The Khouribga prison's firm rebuttal underscores its commitment to upholding legal and ethical standards in the treatment of inmates and their visitors. By refuting the circulated claims, the administration seeks to restore public confidence in the institution's operations and affirm its dedication to ensuring the well-being and fair treatment of all individuals under its care.

As public scrutiny intensifies, the prison's transparent response serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between maintaining order and respecting the rights of those incarcerated. It highlights the ongoing challenges faced by correctional facilities and the need for continuous improvement in addressing issues such as overcrowding while adhering to principles of human dignity and due process.
