Hicham Arazi leads Morocco into crucial Davis Cup clash with Nigeria

Morocco’s Davis Cup team is heading into its clash with Nigeria with qualification for the World Group I playoffs firmly in sight.

Speaking in Rabat on Friday, national captain Hicham Arazi said the Moroccan players are ready for a demanding tie and determined to secure the result needed to continue their campaign at the next level of the competition.

The Group World II encounter is scheduled for September 19 and 20 at the Club des Cheminots de Tennis in Rabat, where Morocco will face a Nigerian side expected to compete aggressively for victory.

Arazi calls for focus and determination

Arazi acknowledged that Morocco enters the tie with strong expectations, but stressed that the team will not underestimate its opponents.

While Morocco may appear stronger on paper, the former Moroccan tennis star said the squad is approaching the matches with humility, concentration and determination. He also emphasized the physical and competitive demands of Davis Cup tennis, where momentum can quickly shift between players.

For the Moroccan captain, the approach will be straightforward: every point must be contested with maximum commitment, regardless of the identity or ranking of the opponent.

Bennani highlights Morocco’s squad depth

Moroccan player Karim Bennani also expects a difficult confrontation against Nigeria. However, he believes the quality and variety within Morocco’s squad can prove decisive during the tie.

The young player said the national team has prepared seriously for the encounter and enters the competition with confidence. The objective, he stressed, is to secure qualification for the World Group I playoffs.
