Salé launches major coastal road upgrade with new lanes and lighting
A major road infrastructure project is set to begin in Salé, as authorities prepare to expand and modernize a key section of the city’s coastal road.
Led by Morocco’s Ministry of Equipment and Water, the project will cover the stretch linking Bab Charafat with the Ameur commune. The development is designed to increase the road’s capacity and improve traffic conditions along an important route serving the area.
The overall investment is estimated at 45.8 million dirhams, reflecting the scale of the infrastructure upgrade planned for the corridor.
Three lanes in each direction
The central component of the project will be the expansion of the existing road to three lanes in each direction. The additional capacity is expected to provide greater room for traffic and contribute to smoother movement along the coastal route.
The works will also include the complete asphalting of the road, providing a renewed surface intended to improve driving conditions and the durability of the infrastructure.
Another major element will be the installation of a modern public lighting system. The new lighting infrastructure is expected to enhance visibility along the upgraded section while contributing to the modernization of the surrounding road network.
Six-month construction period
The project is scheduled to be completed within six months. Construction has been awarded to a Moroccan public works company, which will be responsible for carrying out the planned road improvements.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort by local authorities to strengthen Salé’s infrastructure and respond to the mobility needs associated with the city’s development.
By combining additional traffic capacity, a renovated roadway and modern lighting, the project is expected to transform an important section of Salé’s coastal road and reinforce connections between Bab Charafat and the Ameur area.
