Morocco and EU discuss strengthening economic partnership

Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, held a telephone conversation with the European Commissioner responsible for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica, to discuss ways to strengthen economic and commercial relations between Morocco and the European Union.

During the discussion, the two officials explored opportunities to further consolidate trade and investment ties as part of the broader strategic partnership between Morocco and the EU. The exchange focused on enhancing economic cooperation and identifying areas that could benefit from deeper collaboration.

Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining joint efforts to advance cooperation in preparation for a future comprehensive partnership roadmap between Morocco and the European Union.

Mezzour highlighted Morocco’s role as a key trading partner for the EU, noting that the European bloc remains the Kingdom’s leading investor. Economic exchanges between the two sides cover several sectors, including industry, agriculture, renewable energy and infrastructure development.

For her part, Šuica described Morocco as a strategic economic partner for the EU and reaffirmed the bloc’s commitment to strengthening trade and investment links. In a message posted on the social media platform X, she noted that relations between the two sides are experiencing strong momentum and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation within the framework of a future strategic and global partnership.

Observers say the ongoing dialogue reflects the strong economic interdependence between Morocco and the EU and the shared interest in expanding collaboration in a changing global economic environment.
