Morocco faces cybersecurity challenges amid digital transformation

The Moroccan Association of Information Systems Users, in partnership with PwC Morocco, has unveiled the latest findings from the “Osimeter 2025” Cybersecurity Barometer. This updated edition sheds light on Morocco’s rapidly evolving digital landscape and stresses the urgency of developing innovative cybersecurity strategies.

Conducted under the theme “Evolving Cyber Strategies in Morocco: A Need for Reinvention”, the study combines qualitative and quantitative data from a wide array of public and private entities across key sectors of the Moroccan economy. The results underscore the growing complexity of the digital ecosystem and the escalating cyber threats confronting organizations.

Hisham Sheker, President of the Information Systems Users Association, emphasized the organization’s role as a driving force and platform for collaboration in advancing digital security. He noted that conventional cybersecurity models are now outdated due to the rise of cloud services, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things.

Jamal Basri, Technology Consulting Lead and Partner at PwC Morocco, reiterated the firm’s dedication to supporting Moroccan institutions as they navigate their digital transformation journeys. He highlighted the importance of adaptive and robust responses to the evolving threat landscape.

The report also features a white paper that evaluates the cybersecurity maturity levels of institutions, reviews existing practices, and identifies governance-related challenges. Its purpose is to equip decision-makers with analytical tools and insights for anticipating future risks and shaping informed cybersecurity policies.
