Moroccan fuel stations raise concerns over delivery irregularities

Morocco’s National Federation of Service Station Owners, Traders and Managers has raised concerns over alleged irregularities in fuel deliveries to several stations across the country after reporting a significant diesel shortage during the unloading of a tanker truck.

In a statement issued on May 15, the federation said one station recorded a deficit exceeding 150 liters of diesel during a delivery operation. The organization described the incident as part of a broader pattern affecting multiple fuel stations and warned that such practices could inflict direct financial losses on operators already facing pressure from elevated fuel prices.

The federation said its secretary general, Reda Nadifi, filed a complaint with the relevant authorities following the incident. Industry representatives argue that repeated discrepancies between delivered and declared fuel volumes undermine trust and transparency in commercial transactions within Morocco’s fuel distribution sector.

The organization renewed its call for the wider adoption of the electronic measuring system known as “Flexicompte,” which it described as a reliable monitoring tool approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. According to the federation, the device could reduce discrepancies during unloading operations and improve accountability throughout the supply chain.

Fuel pricing remains a politically sensitive issue in Morocco, where consumers and station operators have faced sustained volatility in recent years. The federation stated that inaccurate deliveries add another burden on independent station owners who operate with narrow margins and absorb losses linked to missing fuel volumes.

The group also announced its readiness to join any future legal proceedings as a civil party if judicial investigations are launched. It called on fuel distributors to support the deployment of electronic control systems in order to protect station operators and strengthen oversight mechanisms in the sector.
