Morocco Launches Ambitious Public Transport Overhaul
In a significant move to modernize its road transport sector, Morocco’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics has unveiled two comprehensive programs under the "Safe Bus" initiative. These efforts, set to roll out in 2024, aim to rejuvenate public transport vehicles and enhance road infrastructure, particularly benefiting rural public transport, freight services, and carpooling systems.
The Ministry highlighted that these projects will be implemented via the electronic platform “tajdid-hadira.narsa.gov.ma” and will unfold in two distinct stages. According to a statement from the National Road Safety Agency (NARS), the first phase is scheduled to commence on Monday, July 22. During this initial stage, companies interested in participating will be able to register, provided they possess a valid account on the platform. Those without an account will need to sign up to join the program.
The second phase is set to begin on Monday, July 29, at which point the platform will open for application submissions. Stakeholders keen to benefit from these programs must submit their applications through the aforementioned electronic platform. Starting July 22, professionals can access the joint curricula and approved procedures for downloading the requisite documentation from the "tajdid-hadira.narsa.gov.ma" website.
The "Safe Bus" initiative is crafted to significantly enhance the safety and efficiency of Morocco's public transportation network. By ensuring that public transit vehicles are well-maintained and up-to-date, the program seeks to mitigate the risk of accidents and elevate the overall travel experience for passengers. This initiative marks a pivotal step towards a safer and more reliable public transport system in Morocco.
